How To Unlink Your Skype ID From Your Microsoft Account Using The Skype For Desktop App
Start by opening the Skype for desktop app and and then access your profile by clicking or tapping on your name in the Status Bar.
Then click or tap on Manage.
This action will open a secure area of the Skype website in your main browser. Here you will be able to access several options that allow you to customize your account. To unlink your accounts, scroll down to the Account details area. Then, in the Settings and preferences section, click or tap on Account settings.
In the Account settings page you should find your linked Skype and Microsoft accounts displayed side by side. In the Microsoft account section you’ll find the Unlink option. Simply click or tap on it.
After you pressed Unlink, you should be prompted with a message box. It will warn you that you can unlink your Skype and Microsoft accounts only for a limited number of times. Click or tap Continue to finish the unlinking process.
You should see a notification in the top area of the web page which states that the two accounts have been unlinked.
If, unfortunately, you have reached the maximum number of times you can unlink your Microsoft account, you will receive a message that informs you of this problem. The only way to unlink your accounts after you have received this message is to contact Skype Customer Support.
How To Unlink Your Skype Account From Your Microsoft Account Using The Skype Website
It is also possible to unlink your Skype and Microsoft accounts without having to open the Skype for desktop app. To do this, you have to open your preferred browser, go to Skype’s website and sign into your account.
Once you’ve logged in to your Skype account, in order to unlink your Skype ID from your Microsoft account, simply follow the same steps we’ve shown in the previous section of this tutorial.
